Snow

Kids loved seeing the snow this morning.  David told me that he was going to tell his teacher that there is a TON of snow at our house.  "honey, there will be snow at the school too."  Noah saw it and said, "Yay!  Christmas here!!"    very cute.  Glad they are excited.  Cuz i'm sure not...   :)  I'm glad they are happy.

Noah peed his pants yesterday at my cousin's house.  very weird. He is so potty-trained--i don't know what happened.  Poor kid.

kid quotes

bath time...
me: Remember--do not put the toys in your mouth
david: or you'll get sick and DIE! and don't drink the water or you could get sick and DIE!
me:ummm...
David: and dont go under the water or u could cough and DIE!

eh, whatever. 1 out of 3.

while we were leaving david's school parking lot....
an older woman pulls in. Noah starts waving and yelling, "hi, old lady!"
(kids are embarrassing.  whadda ya gonna do?)

buddy

I am dave's buddy.  this can be good and bad.  good that he thinks of me as a friend and that he can joke and play around with me.  bad that he sometimes treats like his frat brother (e.g. "working from home").

There are so many male bodily functions going on in this house that i would like a separate wing built for me.  This wing would be full of everything I love and will probably involve some pink and jewels.  (and rock posters...)

I do not want to be farted on.  EVER.  I do not want you to fart near me.  I do not want you to fart in bed and then throw the blanket over my head.  EVER.  Do not tell me about your poop.  Do not announce that you are about to go poop.  Do not use phrases like "turtle head" or "brown eye."  I have to wipe baby boy butts all day--don't need to hear about your's.

I am not a guy--i believe that is why you married me, because I am NOT a guy.  Not sure why you always call me "man" and "dude."  I am neither.  I am a girl.  I like to play around.  I like to joke around.  I am fun and funny, but let's keep a balance.  Don't take it too far and then accuse me of being sensitive.  I am a girl--I am sensitive.

Treat me like a girl--it's what you love most about me.

today

I am horribly bored right now.

Was suppose to babysit Ava this morning. Got up at 5:45, out the door at 6.  Ava's dad called me at 6:08 to tell me that he had gotten off of work early, so i didn't need to come.  BUT because they are awesome, he said that they would pay me anyway.  Love them.  He said he would be really annoyed if his job called right before he was suppose to be there and cancelled on him; and he knew I had already gotten up and was on my way, so of course he would still pay me.  They're lovely.

so i came home, went back to bed, slept for a while.  kids woke up at 7:30--and being great parents--told them to go ahead and take off their diapers and asked them to play upstairs for a while.  Which they did with no problem.  sweeties.  Noah came down about half an hr later saying, "milk, please?  milk, please?"  So, I dragged myself out of bed, got the boys some milk, turned on cartoon, and kinda passed out on the couch.  They were so easy going this morning.  when they got hungry David asked if he could have a granola bar.  So he got one for himself and Noah.  They just hung out for the most part.  It was nice.  Good boys.  Lazy mommy today.

Going to see Breaking Dawn tonight, for the 2nd time.  Excited to see it again.

Oh, and I'm worried that i'm pregnant.  Hope i'm being paranoid because of the great pregnant cloud that has descended upon Michigan.  Not late or anything, just paranoid.

Thanksgiving

Not too much to say about Thanksgiving.  It went really well.  Food was good.  Dave's deep fried turkey did not ruin the day--it turned out just fine  :)  The only thing that did not turn out right was the gravy--which i made.  Everyone assured me it was fine, but I know the difference between gravy and gelatinous turkey-neck water.

We got the fireplace mantel done the night before, and it turned out really good.  Especially considering that it was made from a giant beam we found rotting in a field.

Dave got me my Christmas present early--new camera!  and these pics were taken with it before I figured out how to really set it up for the best quality.....  and, I took them after dinner was over, and most everyone left.  Yup, I'm really on top of things.

Cough

always the last thing to get rid of when your sick is that dreaded, pesky cough.  I cough every once in a while during the day, but night is a different story.

Dave doesn't approve of me sleeping with a cough drop in my mouth.  I understand why, but i've done this many times, and it stays exactly where i put it--stuck to the top of my mouth.  Stays the same size and everything....  Regardless, choking hazard-- I know.  Took some cough medicine, but maybe it's just this household cuz it doesn't work well on the kids either, but that stuff does not work.  Or it took 2-3 hrs for it to kick in.  doubtful.

Long story short--I got to sleep on the couch last night.  Our undersized couch--which is actually classified as a love seat.  That was comfortable.  Could've slept on the full size couch in the theater room, but it's freezing in there.  No idea what time I passed out, but I woke up to the light being turned on, kids telling me that "the first number is 7!" (they are not allowed to get up before 7am), and a great pain in my neck.

Great night, great night.  Taking NyQuil tonight even though I do not have any of the other symptoms on the box besides "cough."  But we need to get some sleep tonight.

must be growing

For lunch David requested a chicken quesadilla ("chicken pizza!"), and he actually ate the whole thing.  After nap he ate yogurt and a granola bar.  Then he requested a cut up apple.  kinda a lot of food for this kid.  He's been eating all of his dinner, for the most part, and wanting more food at lunch.
Must be growing!

more of Noah from last night

at the store talking to dave on the phone....

dave:  you left at the perfect time!
me:  why?
dave:  noah blew out his pants
me:  what?!
dave:  he had explosive diarrhea in his pants
me:  oh!  that poor thing!  was he upstairs?
dave:  yeah.  and he slid on his butt all the way down the stairs smooshing it all over himself.  he came down
crying that he needed to poop, and i asked him if he already went poop, and he said "yeah."
me:  (can't help but laugh now) did you give him a bath?
dave:  I wiped him all off, and stuck him in the shower and washed him off.
me:  ok, good.  poor kid.  what'd u do with his clothes?
dave:  i threw them away
me: (laughing hysterically, cuz----ive tried that move before, and dave gave me a talking to)  did you really?!
dave:  no i didn't throw them away!  that's something you would do!  I rinsed them out and put them in the
          laundry
me: (still laughing)  ok, thank you. (i was picturing a pile of poop clothes waiting for me on the bathroom floor)
      wait--is there poop upstairs?
dave:  no, it stopped at his ankle.
me: (ha!) ok, good.

night of classic Noah

at dinner....
me:  Noah eat your food.
Noah:  (hold's out finger) look!  a booooger!
me:  nice.
Noah: (giggle, giggle)  Eat it!

at bed time....
Noah:  buggu, mom.
Me:  I love you too, Noah.
Noah:  Noooo.  (holds out finger) Booger, mom.
Me:  There's no booger.
Noah:  Noooo.  Over there. (points)
Me:  You wiped a booger over there?
Noah:  Uh huh!

oh boys

i find myself drying the Aquadoodle with a hairdryer, so they can "paint" some more.  Because obviously, the purpose of the magic mat is not to paint pictures, but to soak the entire thing until it is completely unusable.  (and then you paint each other)

interview

Tonight I had an informal interview with another family in need of a babysitter.  They both were very nice, and their kids were sweeties.  Two boys: 2 yrs. and 6 months.

It went really well.  They said they may need me as early as Saturday.  Yay!  The down side:  I am sick.  I had loaded up on extra strength Tylenol a couple hours before hand, so I felt fine.  And I put on makeup so I did not look like Night of the Living Dead.  But now I really need to rest up and get healthy again because I do NOT want to get them sick, nor do I want to end up with pneumonia due to neglect of my own health.

Pray for my health, please!!

now i have company

Misery loves company!  the kids and i are all sick now.  it's lovely.  I have a sinus infection, and the kids probably do too.  it's miserable.  The kids were soooo emotional at nap time.  David sobbed for probably an hour until I told him to get in bed with me.  I was trying to take a nap too.  What a joke.  Noah coughed and coughed.  I put Vicks on him and it fixed that problem fairly quickly.  I am still not certain if David actually slept, but I know I sure didn't.
Being sick is miserable.  the miserable taking care of the miserable.   it's awful.  and miserable.

really?

still not completely over being sick, and i think i am getting re-sick.  awful, awful, awful.  hate this season.

Tuesday

Went to MOMs group this morning at church.  Always enjoyable, and the kids have fun in their "classes."  We made Christmas ornaments for favors to be handed out at--you know, i am really not positive what those cute little ornaments were for.  I think they are for the "Christmas Cocoa," which is like a get together for all of the ladies in the church.  I think that is what they were for...  Either way, they turned out cute, happy I got to help.

After nap Leah came over with her kids to decorate cookies.  Kids had fun.  Lots of frosting and sprinkles consumed.  Noah wanted to add the green sugar sprinkles to every cookie whether it had been frosted or not.  David did a lot of sneaky frosting knife licking.  Kobe built a frosting mountain on his first cookie, but made the rest normal afterwards.  Elee frosted 3 cookies, took a bite out of each, ate most of the frosting out of her bowl and a lot of her sprinkles.  She never made a peep.  Happy little sugar girl.

Maybe that is where the rhyme came from:  "Sugar and spice and everything nice; that's what little girls are made of."  Because if we do not have our desired amount of "sugar and spice" we become awful little banshees.  Give us some sugar, and we'll will sit quietly and contentedly for many minutes.

All in all, a nice day.
(yes, i know the photo quality is awful.  what can i say?  that's what i get for letting the kids play photographer and breaking the flash.)

working from home

Dave is working from home today.  He's doing training stuff via Skype.  Sounded like a nice idea to me--until....

I was taking a shower.  Dave sneaked into the bathroom, reached into the shower, and turned the water all the way to COLD.  Did I mention this is the 2nd day in a row of this happening?  Today, I threw a toddler style fit, screaming and stomping my feet while dave laughed from around the corner.  Then Dave made a terrible mistake.  He decided to use the "facilities" while I was still screaming.  So i hosed him down with the shower wand while he was peeing.   BAHAHA!  big jerk.  but...  he then stole my towel to wipe up all of the water, which of course, ensued more screaming and whimpering from me.  He got me another towel.

This better not happen again on Wednesday while he's doing the "work from home" thing again.

Lovely having you home, Dear.

Ducks

These beauties have been staring at me while I pee for the past TWO YEARS.  After Dave insisted many times that yes, he would remove them, it was time to take matters into my own hands.  The part that took the longest was just finding the right size wrenches.  Yup, 2 different sizes for these crazy rigged up things.  One was just screwed on, and the other was literally BOLTED on.  Regardless, it's done.  BWAHAHA.

David came in afterwards and saw the duck carnage spread on the counter.
D: "Why did you take those off?!"
B: "Because I didn't like them."
D: "Why?  I like them!   They're cool."
B: "I don't like them.  We're getting a new one."
D: "Why?!  They're cool!"  (spots the wrenches)  "What are you doing with those?"
B: "I used them to take the ducks off."
D: "No! Those are dangerous to girls!"

I beg your pardon?!  Oh. my. word.

carrots

Me: "Noah, eat your carrots."
Noah: (Takes a long look at the carrots)
Me: "Noah, put a piece of carrot in your mouth."
Noah: (Puts a piece in his mouth)
Me: "Thank you."
Noah: (Covers his face with his hands.)  "I'm sad!"

Oh my, this child.  He can put on a great show.

clean (kind of)

i semi-organized our closet yesterday, and i have come to the conclusion that we need bins.  many many bins.  I want to put them on the shelf that runs along the top.  they will look better than our random crap arranged in groups up there.

Scary

Noah has a fun new habit.  He will pick a movie or show that he wants to watch, and ten minutes into it he changes his mind and doesn't want to watch it anymore.  So he is smart enough to know that he needs a good excuse if he's going to get me to change his show/movie every thirty seconds.  The brilliant child came up with a good one----  "It scary!"

Obviously Mommy would never make him watch something that he thought was scary, nor would Mommy turn something on for him that had the potential of being scary.  However, his proclamation did work a couple of times, though I doubted that he really felt this way.  It was possible that he was having an overly sensitive day, and maybe he was a little bothered by the 'bad guy' in Anastasia.  But then...  It began happening more frequently, with shows and movies that he has watched MANY times before with no problem.

Today he showed his true motives when he said that The Iron Giant, Bolt, and Dora the Explorer were scary.  Dora is in no way, shape, or form "scary."

I finally gave him 2 options:  do you want to watch Bolt, or do you want to turn the TV off?  This ultimatum was horrifying  (truly 'scary').  He had been playing with toys the entire time the TV was on, so I'm not sure why he even cared what was on.  But he finally deemed Bolt acceptable, and hasn't said another word about it being "scary."

Master Manipulator.

sleep talking

couple nights ago--keep in mind that i am sick and covet my sleep...

at some point in the middle of the night I am awoken:
dave: are you ok?
me: yeah
(i appreciate the concern--let me sleep)
dave:  are you ok?
me: (little louder) yeah
dave:  no, i mean are you really ok? (starts FEELING my FACE)
me:  (smacks his hand away) i said i'm fine!
dave: (annoyed at my insolence)  fine!  sorry, do your own thing!

what the?  'do your own thing' ??  he was obviously asleep.

prodigy

my smarty pants two-year-old counted to 16 this morning!  it was adorable.  he counted the little jars of spices for me.

backwards

for the past few days I have taken up napping instead of working out.  so backwards....  even better would be laying in bed surrounded by candy wrappers.
i do have a valid reason though.  I am sick.  and I have not been sleeping well for the past few nights.  i'm ok with my napping decision.
i will start back up with workouts after i am healthy again.  I will.
until then----i just want to feel better!!!

darn it

i guess i was starting to feel left out.....    i have a cold now.

tired

instead of working out during the boys' nap time, I took a nap also.  I slept awful last night.  I don't why, I was just awake a LOT last night.  Blaming it on the 3 o'clock cup of coffee seems a bit far fetched.
oh well, whatever the reason, i'm good now.  Except...  think i'm getting a cold.  boo.

nonsense

Conversation with Ava on our way back to her house from basketball practice:

me: see that road right there?  i live down there.
ava:  how can you live down there?  there's no houses!
me:  yes there are.  the entire road is full of houses.
ava:  no there's not!  it's only stores!
me:  there are no stores--only houses.
ava:  like a hundred houses?
me:  more than that
ava:  like 200 houses?
me:  like 4 or 5 hundred houses
(im counting the branching subs as well)
ava:  my mom and dad use to live down that road
(5 seconds ago there werent even houses down there--now her parents lived there)
me:  no they didn't
ava:  yeah, huh!
me:  i dont think they did
ava:  yeah they really did!
me:  no.  they didn't.
ava:  where did they live then?
me:  i know they lived in New York
ava:  they did?
me:  yeah
ava:  why did they live in new york?
me: they were stationed there when they were in the army.
ava:  what's stationed?
      (oh, geez)
me:  that's where the army told them to live.
Ava:  i'm gonna kick the back of your chair till we get home
me:  please dont
ava:  i'm gonna!
    (kick,kick,kick...)
me:  ava, stop.
(driving past all fast food places now)
ava:  i am sooooo thirsty!
me: we're going home.  you can get a drink there
ava:   but i need one nooooow.
me:  you'll get one at home
ava:  is this the way to my house?
me:  yes
ava:  are you sure?
me:  yes.  i have been there.
ava:  yeah, from your house.  not from the athletic center.
me:  i take the same way.
ava:  i feel like we're lost.
me:  we're not lost
ava:  i think we are.
me:  yup, we are lost in the woods.  im gonna drop you off on the side of the road and you can find your way back home.
ava:  (lots of laughing)  noooo!!
me:  we'll be there soon

gross

noah sharted in his underwear.  gross.

Halloween

Kiddies had a blast trick or treating last night.  We went with my sis and her two kids (Kobe and Elee), her husband (ben), and her husband's parents (Mark and Cindy; they met up with us 'bout half way through).  Mark is also the pastor who married Dave and I--just a fun little factoid.

We went to a sub right down the street which had a TON of houses.  And it was local.  Bonus!  Noah was kinda done after like 6 houses, but then he got re-charged with a juice box (thanks, Ben!).  He began to run up to every house, and tried to run back to a few also.

It was a perfect night--not too cold, no tears; it was lovely.  They have a ridiculous amount of candy now, and fun new costumes to play dress up in.

Love Halloween.
