Secretary of State

Waited for 15 min in the car for the Secretary of State to open. Noah was turning mutinous and repeatedly asked to go home. I tried to play I-Spy with him to make the time pass quicker. He closed his eyes in protest.

maybe better

David has been sick for a week.  Noah has been sick for almost as long.  David has a double ear infection.  So far, I think Noah just has a cold, but his fever has lasted longer than David's.

I began getting sick yesterday, but I feel a lot better today.

Let's hope this all ends soon.

Kylee Marguerite

She's so beautiful!  March 16th, 7:49 am.  6 lbs. 14 oz.  bit of jaundice, but otherwise doing great!  little cutie.

I've only seen her once because my kids pick the best times to get sick.  I can't wait till they're all better, so I can go snuggle the 'widdle baby.'  David is really excited to meet her too.  He doesn't really understand why she can't 'play' yet though.

Noah informed meet "no more kids!  no babies!"
"What about aunt leah's baby?  are you going to be nice to her?"
"yeah."
"but no babies for us?"
"yeah."
ok.  noah has spoken.

So little miss Kylee has a ton of hair.  :)  Apparently it sticks up like Woodstock after she has a bath.  so cute.

Weekend with Elee

We got to watch Elee this past Saturday through Sunday while Leah was at the hospital having baby Kylee!  (more about little Kylee when I actually get some pictures--or steal them off of other people FB pages...)  Elee was practically perfect the entire time.  She listened well, was very sweet, didn't throw fits, played nicely, slept well--she was lovely.  I was very happy that everything went so well.  I was very worried that she would think that she was being taken from her parents again and was going to be bounced around for another 2 yrs.  We made sure to tell her that she was going home very soon, and mommy has to be in the hospital because she had a baby.

dinner
She did definitely miss Mommy and Daddy and mentioned them often, but she handled everything sooo well.  I took her up to the hospital on Saturday afternoon.  I wanted to be able to visually reassure her that her tragic little life was not repeating itself.  She was very happy to see them, and I think it did help.  And of course she got a cookie out of the deal thanks to Grandpa.  :)  They're so sweet with her.

I took her and the boys to the park that morning.  They had tons of fun, but of course there is always that one little b@st@rd child that you just want to push the eject button on.  He was probably 8-ish.  He thought he was the boss of the playground.  yelling mean, nasty things to all the other kids and trying to order everyone around.  he upset all 3 of my kids (yes--includes Elee.).  He made Noah cry by cutting in front of him, which separated him from David.  I walked over to see why he was crying and this kid starts YELLING at me defending what he did, lying about it all.  I looked at him dead stare and said, "do NOT yell at me."  He got the funniest look on his face like he didn't know what to do and kept moving.

Elee was standing at the bottom of a fireman's pole trying to jump-climb it.  Here comes Boss Man to the top.  Looks down at her and starts yelling, "hey kid!  move before I crush you!"  Of course I was off of my bench in a second....   "Do NOT talk to my kids that way!"  "I wasn't--I said that to that kid!"  "I saw the whole thing.  You said it to her.  Don't do it again."  (eject button!  eject button!  eject button!)

listening to the train.  ok, she was kinda naughty here--could not keep her hand off of the door handle.
Not long afterward Elee decided she had had enough.  I think he had said something to her again.  Well, she took matters into her own hands this time.  She gave him a good shove.  he started yelling again (that's obviously all that child ever does) and backing up, and Elee shoved him again.  More yelling.  Elee starts trying to kick him...  Oh, how I wanted to laugh and laugh and laugh!  But I did do the responsible thing and run and grab her.  I told her it is not ok to push or kick anyone, but she didn't actually get in trouble.  Now, in his defense--he did not once try to push or hit her back.  So he does get points for that.  Glad he knows enough not to hit a 3 yr old--cuz i'm not sure I would know enough in that situation not to hit an 8 yr old...  just kidding.  sort of.

Should've taken more pics, but I forgot my camera (and forgot photography even existed.  I was busy.)

yes, we dress her in some of David's clothes for pj's, cuz all of her's were too warm.

Noah's favorite YouTube video

Noah loves "dad catch spider!"  He wants to watch it all the time.  So funny.

"in the side"

On our way home from preschool today, David told me that Landon pushed him down.  David, in turn, punched Landon "in the side" and told him "don't push me down again!"  Wow...  Never thought I would see the day when my sweet boy would punch someone.

"Miss Brittany saw Landon push me.  He got in trouble."
"Did you get in trouble?"
"No, she didn't see me."
ok......

On the one hand....   Being "pushed down" has kinda been an issue for the past 6 months.  And it's been by 4 or 5 different kids.  I am glad that he stuck up for himself, but I'd rather he not hit anyone.  It's not exactly turning the other cheek...  Can't quite bring myself to tell my 4 yr. old to "just ignore them" if he's getting picked on; I do want him to stand up for himself.

I did make sure to tell him to never start a fight or initiate any hitting/pushing/etc.  Also, I know that a little girl pushed him down once...  I made it very clear that he is NEVER allowed to hit a girl.  EVER.  by all means, tell her not to do that again, but do NOT hit her.

On a lighter note....
Dave's sis and nieces came up today for a while.  It was fun visiting with them.  Glad they came.

She (Desi) brought a birthday present for Noah.  The boys were stoked.  She gave him a bunch of "chuck and friends" cars and a garage/ramp thing that goes with it.  Obviously, they love it.

"mom!"

Boys come running into the room.  They had been playing on the Jumpolene.
David:  "Noah kicked my nose!"
Noah:  "I am not 'bad news!'"

The Beach Boys

I turned The Beach Boys on at lunch time today.
David:  "What song is this?"
Me:  "'Wouldn't it Be Nice.'"
David:  "It makes my butt shake!"

Oh, Beach Boys--making butts shake since 1961.

updates

Dave arrived home yesterday.  Yay!  didn't wake up freaking out once last night.  :)  Personal body guard aside, I'm still glad he's home.

I woke david up to go the the bathroom before i went to bed last night.  ----NO pee in his diaper at all!  perfectly dry all night!  obviously, this will be our new routine.

We had a play date with Kilee today at Halo Burger.  Apparently the happy couple is back together. As soon as she saw him she RAN to hug him.  It was adorable.  Melinda (mom) said that for days she has been walking around the house telling her dad, "you have to be nice to him, cuz he's my boyfriend," and "I need glasses because my boyfriend has glasses, and we need to match," and "David's my boyfriend.  He has glasses, and I LOVE it."  Told you she was a sweet girl.  :)  lol  I'm glad David is happy.

This evening we took the boys to The Lorax.  They loved it, and had fun.  They wore the 3D glasses without fidgeting with them.  And of course, they ate their weight in popcorn.  No one cried, which always makes for a successful outing.

4:30

David woke me up at 4:30 am because he had peed through his diaper, soaking himself and bedding.  I am a little sick of this.  I know he can't help it, but it gets frustrating changing sheets and clothes all the time.  As a general rule the boys cannot drink anything after 6:30pm, and we always make them go potty before bed.  So where is all of this pee coming from?!

I'm going to start buying the diapers made for bigger kids.  And when I am ready to go to bed, I am going to wake them up and make them go potty again.  This needs to get better.  It's very frustrating for the kids as well.

irreverent

kids have been in bed for an hour.  I hear them banging around up there.  I throw the door open catching them in the act of sitting up and giggling--David is completely backwards in his bed.
me: seriously?!
David:  I was praying!

oh my word!  that little.....  ugh!

nothing

No Ava.  No church. No nothing.

Ava's dad cancelled a few hours ago.  I happily skipped around at the prospect of all of us having a normal wednesday night at church with no running back and forth.

And then...  Noah woke up.  with no voice.  it was so sad!  He sounds a little better now, but not normal yet.  He said his throat hurt when he woke up, but he says it's fine now.  Either way, we are shut-ins for the night.

I made him a gross beverage of hot water, honey, and squeezed orange juice (we have no lemons) to soothe his throat.  He seemed to like it, and it did help.  He called it "my coffee" because I used the tea kettle like I use for MY coffee.  cutie.

attempt

today I am going to attempt to drop David off at Cubbies tonight while I have Ava.  All 3 car seats packed into my 2nd row.  If Meredith (Ava's mom) doesn't get here at 8 or very shortly after, then I will take her to pick him up as well with all 3 seats....  I get very annoyed very easily with crushed together seats that I have to cram my hand in between to buckle in.  It hurts every time.

I'm liking my hair more today.  progress.  :)

hurry

"boys, you need to hurry!"  I yelled from the other room.
David:  "I am!"
Noah:  "I'm not!"

hair

Caitlin did my hair today.  She did a very good job with what she had to work with (meaning: my hair).  She couldn't do all over lightening because of all of the dark dye in my hair.  She said she would have to use a ton of this dye stripper and it would WRECK my hair.  So she put in a TON of hi-lites  :)  And she is coming back on Thurs morning to put in even more.

So, it does look good, but i do not look like Kate Beckinsale...  lol  Like that was possible anyway!  It will still take me some time to get use to it though.  But I did not cry!

Not going to post any pictures of it until Dave sees it when he gets home on Thursday.

Oh, David says it looks "gold," and he liked it better before.  Thanks for the encouragement, man.

better

Slept like a baby last night.  It was lovely.  The dog did not vibrate either--which makes me wonder if I was having a muscle spasm in my leg all night and just blaming it on poor Sam.  hmm.  Either way, we both slept well and so did the boys.

No aliens or home invasion.

creepy

Ugh.  Had weird, creepy dreams all night.  Not cool.
First, I lived by myself in a beach house, and 3 guys kept trying to break in.  lovely.  woke up terrified.
Secondly, aliens had invaded earth and taken over almost everyone's bodies. My friends and I were being hunted so we could be "taken over."  that's nice.

Also, turns out that the dog vibrates when he sleeps.  Yes, I had him on the bed to protect me.  He like shook all night long.  When he wasn't shaking he was spinning in circles and nibbling on himself.

Change

Not much of a pacifist.
Dave left for New York a few hours ago.  It's just me and the boy-oyz till Thursday.  I don't particularly like when he goes out of town, but it's part of the job so whatever.  I'm a baby and don't like being the only adult in the house in case--God forbid--something were to happen.  I'm one of those paranoid girls that makes the dog sleep on the bed at night and keeps a gun under the pillow.  It's only a few days, I will be fine.  I'll probably just be a bit sleep-deprived is all.

So, I talked to my friend Caitlyn and asked her to completely change my hair.  While I am a BIG fan of my dark hair, Dave has been mentioning "hi-lites" again--to which I mentioned "British accent" again.  The accent has not happened. However, I figure it won't hurt to change up my hair seeings that is has been the same color for almost 5 years now with little variation.  Now I am trying not to have unrealistic expectations for this transformation.  I know that I will not be blonde, pieces will be.  I think my hair is too dark (and dyed) to completely reverse it like that.  So, I'm asking for it to be lightened and have blonde hi-lites put in.  I guess as long as it is not orange, i will be happy.  She told me that she "does not do orange."
ideal

I am a little worried about how it will look with my complexion though.  I have yellow undertones in my skin, so i'm afraid my hair will make me look like a victim of liver failure.  And I know it will take time to get used to, so i am also concerned about the expression on my face when she is done.  I am so used to my hair being almost black that I think any change will be a big shock and will sort of scare me.  The last time I had my hair radically changed (color-wise), I hated it at first and thought it looked horrible.  But I liked it after a few days.  I'm not very good at hiding my emotions.  unfortunately, I am very heart-on-my-sleeve, which does not always benefit me or those around me....  I hope I don't hurt her feelings.  :/

Ideally, my hair would look like this:
But I feel that I am really reaching....
not sure, it may be attainable.  (Wouldn't mind if my face and body looked like her's as well.  just saying.)

Regardless, this is being done Tuesday.  No turning back!  not because I can't, because I won't.  :)

More "change" news.......
Dave told me that he wants to have a girl.  Like within the next 2 years.  Not sure how i feel about this...  On the one hand--terrified and appalled.  On the other--ehhh??  maybe???  He asked me to think about it.  Previously, all I had been thinking about was sterilization.  hmm.  We'll see.  We would have to invest in that book How to Make a Girl though, cuz I'm pretty sure he can only make boys.

accents

I was talking to Dave, imitating something that Noah said--and then I realized I said it in a British accent. "sometimes the kids have British accents in my head."
Dave: "apparently"
me: "and you mostly sound like a hillbilly."
Dave: "nice."

Seussified

I stressed about a costume.  Dave made sure to get him a "real" Seuss hat.  Leah supplied everything else--helping me a TON.  And then we get to school today all done up like the Cat and the Hat, and almost NO ONE else is dressed up!  One girl was in her pajamas.  A couple boy wore red shirts saying "Thing 1" and "Thing 2."  Another boy was Fox in Socks--he had a neck tie tied to his pants as a tail and wore bright blue socks with no shoes.  I think the Fox was a cute idea.  I was just a little disappointed that we were the only ones who "went all out" for it.

Apparently we could've just sent him in a hat and he would've fit right in.  HOWEVER, David loved it--so that's all that matters.  He did not care that he was the "only one" in a full costume.  He loves to be in costume and thought it was great.  "They called me 'Cat,'" he said with a big smile.  So, I'm glad that we made sure that he was fully Seussified  :)  Even if one of the boys had the utter NERVE to ask him where his tail was (David didn't have a tail) when he, himself did not have a single bit of costume on.  No costume--no opinion!

Slapped some ears on Noah, so he wouldn't feel left out.

Noah was in top form today.  He cried when we left David's school.  Begged to go to the playground and Safari playground.  I called Leah and invited us to her house just so he didn't have to sit at home.  Noah said "i don' wanna go aunt 'Eah's.  go somewhere fun!"  After a couple rounds of that chant I told him, "Leah's or home--those are your options."  "Go Aunt 'Eah's."  That's what i thought.  He wasn't too bad while we were there, but when I told him to give aunt Leah a hug good bye...  he started bawling and yelling "no!"  jerk.  I made him.

Noah's a meanie.
