Scary

Noah has a fun new habit.  He will pick a movie or show that he wants to watch, and ten minutes into it he changes his mind and doesn't want to watch it anymore.  So he is smart enough to know that he needs a good excuse if he's going to get me to change his show/movie every thirty seconds.  The brilliant child came up with a good one----  "It scary!"

Obviously Mommy would never make him watch something that he thought was scary, nor would Mommy turn something on for him that had the potential of being scary.  However, his proclamation did work a couple of times, though I doubted that he really felt this way.  It was possible that he was having an overly sensitive day, and maybe he was a little bothered by the 'bad guy' in Anastasia.  But then...  It began happening more frequently, with shows and movies that he has watched MANY times before with no problem.

Today he showed his true motives when he said that The Iron Giant, Bolt, and Dora the Explorer were scary.  Dora is in no way, shape, or form "scary."

I finally gave him 2 options:  do you want to watch Bolt, or do you want to turn the TV off?  This ultimatum was horrifying  (truly 'scary').  He had been playing with toys the entire time the TV was on, so I'm not sure why he even cared what was on.  But he finally deemed Bolt acceptable, and hasn't said another word about it being "scary."

Master Manipulator.
