The boys did a great job dyeing their eggs. The hardest part was leaving the eggs in the dye for more than 15 seconds. Noah insisted on taking one of his eggs to the drying rack himself with the tongs. It was a 2 foot trip, but he dropped that egg 3 times on his way. Silly boy.
Easter dinner went really well. My parents, Grandparents, and Dave's dad and dad's gf came over. Leah, Ben, and the kiddos stopped over later to see everyone.
And here comes the story that shows what an awful person I am.... I did not invite my sister to Easter dinner until the day of. I know. My thought process: I asked her a few days before if she was going to our parents' house on Easter. She said 'no.' She was celebrating Easter with Ben's side of the family. I assumed that this must be an all day deal, and they didn't want to go anywhere else since she said they were not going to my parents'. Talked to my parents later that day after talking to Leah to see what their plans were because i was planning on going there after church. My dad said they were planning on 'making the rounds' up here where leah and i live. ok. Then I asked dave what his dad was doing. "i dunno." ok. So if my parents aren't really doing anything and Dave's parents aren't doing anything then I should ask them to have Easter dinner here. Both sides agree. Then I think 'Grandma and Papa need to come too.' So I invited them as well. All this makes sense, right? And then Easter morning rolls around. Dave: "did you invite Ben and Leah?" me: "no, they are with Ben's family. Oh, but that's right after church (light bulb--key factoid that i forgot). " Dave: "you didn't invite your sister?! She's your family!" me: "oh crap. I just assumed that they were gonna be with Ben's family all day and didn't want to go anywhere else because they weren't going to our parents' house." Dave: "You're suppose to be with your family on Easter! I can't believe you didn't invite them!" me: "oh my word. I am a terrible person!" dave: "you better apologize a lot."
yup, terrible person. so, that is my side of the story and the thought processes that were involved. go ahead and judge me. I deserve it.
i got the whisk idea from Pinterest. It worked awesome! Wish i had more big whisks. |
