David's 5th Birthday

David's 5th birthday was Wednesday.  

A good friend of ours, Natalie, has two boys also who are almost the exact same ages as ours.  They came up for the day, and we spent almost 5 hours at the beach.  the kids had a great time.  And though we reapplied their sunblock, they still came back pink.  oh, well.  It doesn't happen often.  I came back a lobster--which unfortunately, happens way more often than it should.  And Natalie was pretty red also.  

They came back to our house after the beach, and we had fancy dinner of burgers, corn on the cob, and fruit.  Like I said--fancy.  And he blew out the candles on his brownie-cupcakes.  

Natalie had gotten him a big bucket and shovel, which was perfect for the beach, and a whole heap of squirt guns.  Her gift was a big hit!

We got him bunk beds.  So, I guess it is kind of a gift for both boys.  He has been asking for a new bed for a while.  Funny, right?  He was thrilled.  It came with one mattress, but we need to buy another one still.
