sadly true...

yes, it's rude.  I apologize.

kick

When Noah had some trouble opening the bathroom door, he gave it a little kick.
Kinda naughty but so funny!  I laughed and laughed...

eczema

the loot
it has been confirmed that David has eczema on his little legs.  poor kid.  he says its itchy.  it started out really small, and i honestly assumed it was ringworm at first.  I began putting the fungal medicine on it, but it just wouldn't get better (and probably made it worse, but i hope not).  It never developed the stereotypical "ring" appearance.  So, I began to think it was probably eczema.  i put some hydro-cortisone cream on it, but that didn't do anything either.  And then he developed more spots.  Decided it was time to take him in.

The Nurse Practitioner confirmed that it is indeed eczema.  She told me that the OTC Hydro-Cortisone is not strong enough to really have an affect on eczema, and his is fairly advanced.  lovely.  Then she tells me that theey just got some free samples in of some medicine that will help.  Yay!  love free samples.  She came back with THREE boxes full of stuff!  2 boxes of the creme/medicine, and 1 box of oil-based wash and aquaphor.  It was like dr.'s office Christmas!  glad I didn't have to go fill a prescription!

snow fun

Digging in daddy's snow plow hill

keeping his eyes uncovered was a constant battle.

--as was keeping David's ears covered.

the only time the boys were less than joyful was when snow got on their faces.

But mostly, they loved every second of it!

David

walking through the bathroom while they're in the tub....

me: 'sup yo?
David: hey, don't call us 'yo.'

HAHA!

day with my boys

  • Painted pictures and did lots of "stickering."
  • Had lunch at Burger King, so they could play in the play place.
  • Naps.
  • Listened to kid music and did a lot of dancing, singing, and car racing (car racing goes with everything).
  • Built pillow towers.
  • Had a fun day.  :)

"I help too!"

hobble

Noah was about 3 steps up the stairway when David felt the need to grab him from behind.  Both came a-tumbling down.  Noah landed on his HEAD.  David hurt his FOOT.  I checked out Noah first because he had just fallen straight on his little block head (yes, i call him Little Block Head, because his head is kind of square-ish in back.).  He cried and cried and wailed and wailed.  It was a bad scene, very sad.  no blood, no bump, barely even a red mark, but I could tell it really hurt him and probably scared him.  David was also wailing.
"what did you hurt?"
"my FOOT!!!!!!  WAAHHHH!"
"ok, just a minute."

I continued to console Noah, because a head injury is always more serious than a foot injury.  or....  not. 10 minutes later, Noah was fine (but milking it); four days later, David is still limping.  I still have no idea how his foot was actually injured!  I don't know if he fell on it, twisted it, hit it, if Noah fell on it...  no idea.  all i know is that a large, puffy bruise developed on the top of his foot, and it was a bit swollen.  the bruise is gone now, the color anyway, and the swelling is almost gone.  But the limp remains.  oh!  i forgot--he tripped over some toys in the play room later that day and hurt it even more.  of course.  (the room got cleaned by me personally that evening.)

He says it is feeling better, but it still hurts a little bit.  I'm not sure how much of the limp is an actual body defense mechanism and how much is in his mind.  We'll see what happens in a few days, but for now, he continues to hobble along.

perfect

apparently our lives are perfect because our biggest "problem" yesterday was 'needing better candy.'  And what did we do?  went out and bought 'better candy.'

we. are. spoiled. Americans.

then my sis tells me that her 9 yr old said that he is "bored with food" so nothing really sounded good to eat.  Trust me, I know how he feels and have felt this way many a times.  But to have these words come out of a 9 yr. old's mouth....  wow.  We are soooo blessed.  BLESSED.  BLESSED.  BLESSED.  and we barely give it a 2nd thought.

I am so thankful that my children have plenty to eat and want for nothing, and the same goes for me as well--and most everyone that I know.  Thank you, Lord for blessing us with EVERYTHING we have.  We would have NOTHING without HIM.

done!

he worked his butt off.  it turned out great!
(yes, he had some help---thank you everyone!!!)

awww

this makes me happy

constipated

Did you know that Doggie Doo gets constipated?  well, now you do.  spent half an hr squeezing his leash, shoving more "food" down his throat, and literally pulling "Doo" out of his butt.  my hand is now crampy and smells like Gak.  Oh well, i was successful.  all of the "Doo" finally came out.

what's wrong?

picked Noah up from his class last night at church.  when i came to the door, he was sitting in a circle with the other kids playing Duck, Duck, Goose.  it was so cute to see him being so well-behaved and interacting with other kids!  they always say his is "so good!"  So i'm hoping that means he's really only naughty at home.  That's fine with me!  Regardless, he hopped up when he saw me and ran to the door carrying 2 small, paper puppets.  1 cat, 1 dog.  He was very proud of them.

then we walked down the hall to pick up David from his Cubbies class.  as soon as david saw the "puppets" (they were really just pictures glued to sticks), he instantly insisted that one of them was his.
D: "Hey! that one's mine!"
Me: "No, they are both Noah's.  He made them in his class."
D: "Why does he get 2, and i get none?"
Me: "He made them both in his class.  You make things in your class all the time and at school."
D: "But i want one."
Me: "That's enough.  They are Noah's, not your's."

He continues to be in a crabby little mood on the way out to the car.  While driving home...

Me: "David, what's wrong?"  (wondering if he has actual reason for being upset besides the puppets like another kid was mean to him or something.)
D: "i just...  A boy pushed down-- (i am filled with dread.  i do not want to hear that my son has gotten pushed down again)-- Anna."  (whew!  obviously I don't want anyone getting pushed down, but this has become any on and off issue in our house.)
Me: "You're upset because a boy pushed down Anna?  That has nothing to do with you.  Why are you upset?"
D: "I just...  I didn't think Ms. Daulton was gonna pick me for an award at award time."
Me: "Did you get an award?"
D: "Yeah."
Me: "But you are upset because you THOUGHT that you weren't gonna get one, but you DID get one?"
D: "Yeah."
Me: "That doesn't make any sense.  Why are you upset?"  (yes, I know he is just randomly picking things out of the air to be upset about.)
D: "I didn't get to play Duck, Duck, Goose."
Me: "oh, my word.  It is time for bed."

Sunday

Dave and Adam worked on the floor all day yesterday.  Made good progress.  It is about 1/3 done, and they are hoping to finish it next weekend.  What they have done looks really good.  It does need to be refinished, but it's fine for now.  That will happen come spring/summer.

The kids and i spent the day at :
1. church
2. parents'
3. Tova's

Church was good.  The kids had fun.  Stayed at my parents' house till 5:30.  Leah, Ben, and the kids were there the whole time, so the kids had fun playing with their cousins.  stopped by Tova's (my dad's cousin.  love her!), and hung out there until 8pm.  Good day.  Busy, but good.

Side note....
when I came home I saw that my toothbrush was on the counter in the bathroom.  Dave leaves his toothbrush out ALL the time.  "Did you use my toothbrush?"  they look very similar, so it's an honest mistake.  He walked in, saw the evidence; "oh.  yeah i guess i did.  sorry."
"eww!  i'm gonna get your halitosis now!"
He swipes his hand across his oh-so sweaty forehead and WIPES it on my ARM!  so gross!!  He turns to walk out of the bathroom.  I grab his toothbrush out of the cabinet.  "ahem!"  i clear my throat.  he turns to look at me.  I SPIT on his toothbrush and place it nicely back in the cabinet.
"Are you serious?!  you didn't even rinse it off!  Adam!  Bobbie just spit on my toothbrush because I accidentally used her's!"
and Adam laughed and laughed and laughed.....
I have accepted my place in the Frat House.

thought process

setting:  me sitting on the edge of the tub (yes, in my underwear) rubbing lotion on my legs.  Noah walks in...

Noah:  You pooping?
(hahahaha!!! cracking up in my head right then.)
me:  No, i'm not pooping!
Noah: (giggle, giggle)
me:  You think i would poop in the bath tub?
Noah:  haha!  yeah!
me:  nice...
Noah:  i kidding you pooping in bath tub!  i kidding!

(no, he was not kidding.  he really asked.  his face was all serious and confused.  hilarious!)

(she is obviously pooping in the bath tub)

dancing

The Beach Boys are playing if you listen really close.

back

sickness is back.  David has an ear infection.  He is handling it very well, though.  He's not a pathetic mess like Noah was, so that's good.  He just gets a little fever occasionally and has an atrocious cough.

finally!

I feel like our entire house has been sick for 2 weeks.  that is an exaggeration, but that is how it feels.  David has not gotten sick yet--yay, David!  All of the rest of us have been a mess.

Last Thursday evening my stomach started to hurt, and i felt nauseous.  couple hrs later, the puking began.  And continued all of that night.  Felt awful and weak for a few days, but was feeling pretty good by Christmas.  Christmas morning (middle of the night), my stomach flu attacked Dave.  He was sick all through Christmas and wasn't doing so hot for the next couple of days.

A few days later Noah caught--well, i'm not sure what it is.  Maybe the flu (not the stomach kind), maybe a sinus infection, nose and throat infection??  I'm just not sure.  But he was doing awful for 5-6 days.  his temp hovered around 101-103 for 3 or 4 days.  we took him to the dr. the day after his temp hit 102.5.  he started antibiotics the next day.  3 days later his temp is finally staying down, hovering around 99, sometimes hitting 100.   It has been a rough week with him.  Woke up 2-3 times a night for 4-5 days administering tylenol and ibuprofen.  I hate how much medication we've been giving him, but apparently it was needed to keep his temp from skyrocketing.  one night i checked his temp and it was 104.  i pulled that poor, tired little boy out of bed, took him downstairs, stripped him down, and turned on Bubble Guppies.  spent an hour rubbing him with lukewarm wash clothes, reminding him to drink his ice water, and layering the tylenol and ibuprofen (no--we never went above the dose or times).  He cried at times when i put the wash cloth on his back.  I was very sad, but for the most part he thought the whole thing was pretty fun.  watching his favorite show in the middle of the night with mom?  sounds good to a 2 yr old!  Regardless, he is finally "on the mend."

I started having stomach pains/ nausea yesterday.  Freaked out that i was having a flu relapse, but nothing ever came of it.  The nausea has gone away, but the pain come and goes.  Had a fever last night.  I don't know what's going on.  Hopefully it just goes away just like everything else.  Hoping i didn't tear up my stomach too bad when i had the flu.  I do know that my stomach was bleeding, but it quit soon after.  hope it didn't open back up or something.

eh, whatever.  we're all getting better.

Dave tore up the living room carpet and pad yesterday.  Our friend gave us wood flooring for FREE that someone gave him, so hopefully by next weekend the floor will be done.
